This restaurant was the only place open in town at that time -about 8:30 PM. Anyway, the food was very mediocre, but we were hungry so we scarffed it up. The man behind the bar looked to be Filipino, but he said he wasn't. I walked in and greeted the man behind the bar in my fluent Spanish and got a response in English. The minute I walked in and looked around at the staff I knew it was not going to be the type of Mexican restaurant I'm accustomed to. We went there for dinner while we were in town on a hunting trip. Would definitely not recommend this place-maybe it was a really bad night for them, but they need help and a better chef! More We ate the rice, asked for the check and paid at the till. Literally swimming in sauce and the beans were watery (like microwaved frozen) floating into each other. We had ordered burritos came a half hour later, and they too were almost inedible.
We couldn't eat it and after it was cold, it was still really soupy-not thick at all. We asked for another order of chips, never came our way. The appetizer seemed to consist of watered down cheese soup with a few canned jalapeños tossed on top there was a handful of shredded lettuce on the side. The waitress didn't say anything, just left. She almost dropped it in my husbands lap and it splashed (yes, splashed) over the bowl onto the table. The waitress brought out our appetizer (we ordered Chile Con Queso). She brought our beverages out, we waited another 15 minutes, watching the back room being set up for a larger (appeared to be at least 8) party of people. We gave her our order and asked if we could have our beverages. It was then twenty minutes before we saw out waitress. It took awhile for us to be seated, but because everyone-here was no exception-is. We picked Casa De Oro because it was open later (until 10pm) and we were really hungry. My hubby and I arrived to town on a Sunday eve of this month.
